Day 9 of the Iran-Israel crisis is underway, and there are no indications that it will end soon. Instead, it has escalated significantly due to increased Iranian retribution, direct U.S. military engagement, and mounting fears of a wider regional conflict. Here is a thorough analysis of the key events that occurred on June 21, 2025.
1. Iranian Nuclear Sites Are Hit by US Airstrikes
The United States launched coordinated attacks on Iranian nuclear sites in a dramatic escalation, formally joining Israel in military action. According to reports, the strikes targeted important locations in Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow.
• Subterranean bunkers thought to contain vital components of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure were destroyed by US B-2 stealth bombers and submarine-borne Tomahawk cruise missiles. President Donald Trump of the United States referred to it as a “spectacular military success,” highlighting the safe return of all American aircraft.
• Although the long-term harm to Iran’s nuclear program is yet unknown, the country’s Atomic Energy Organization stated that there were no radiation leakage.
2. Iran Starts a Serious Retaliation
In response to both Israeli and American attacks, Iran launched a new wave of missiles and drones, targeting multiple Israeli cities and military bases.

• Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, urged the UN to intervene and warned that US participation may have “everlasting consequences.”
• As Houthi rebels in Yemen threaten to target American ships in retaliation for the American strikes, tensions in the Red Sea are rising. While some G7 nations support Israel’s right to self-defense, others have called for restraint and urged other parties to avoid escalating the situation.
5. Ground Reality: Uncertainty and Civilian Toll
In the meantime, Iran has witnessed an increase in civilian evacuations, disrupted healthcare, and worries of a direct invasion; since the start of the war, rocket assaults have killed over 24 Israelis and injured hundreds more.
• Due to constant sirens, power interruptions, and emergency evacuations, residents on both sides are living in constant fear.
6. India Conducts “Operation Sindhu” to Evacuate Citizens
India has started “Operation Sindhu” to securely evacuate its citizens from Iran amid the unrest. As of Day 9, more than 110 Indian citizens had been rescued from Tehran and other crisis areas.
